Dr Alasdair Graham Cameron (Scottish)

Alasdair Cameron qualified from the University of Glasgow in 1998. After serving his time in mixed practice in Yorkshire he progressed to 100% equine practice. He gained experience working in Cheshire, and on The Curragh, before moving out to South Africa in 2003. He worked at the Summerveld practice and then went on to become one of the founding members of Baker McVeigh Cape Town.

Alasdair oversaw the development of Baker McVeigh Cape Town from a one vet ambulatory practice to a full equine hospital with diagnostic, surgical, intensive care and ambulatory services. With a varied racing, sports horse and stud clientele, Alasdair enjoyed all aspects of equine practice in Cape Town, gaining a firm reputation as one of the leading performance horse vets in that part of the world. With a keen interest in poor performance investigation, orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery he has been fortunate to travel extensively with his work.

His annual trips to work at European Bloodstock Sales and close ties to all the Baker, Mcveigh Practices led to a sabbatical in the French practice for a year after which he joined the Newmarket practice in April 2018.

Alasdair was a successful equestrian in his youth but he hung up his riding boots many years ago. During his free time, he now enjoys travelling, all maritime sports and running.
