Dr Douglas McRobbie (Scottish)

Doug grew up with horses being actively involved in the pony club, competed in showjumping and riding work for race yards.  He studied zoology and worked as an assistant trainer in National hunt before going to Vet School at The University of Edinburgh.  Whilst at university he worked at racing yards in the area and for a sports horse stud in Fife, handling stallions and breaking in youngsters.  He also ran his own business breaking in young horses and training problem horses. 

Following his graduation from Edinburgh in 2013, he worked in a mixed practice in the borders before moving to Fife to work at a well-known equine practice for 18 months. He has completed an internship at Rainbow Equine Veterinary Hospital in Yorkshire, working with complicated referral cases in medicine, surgery and orthopaedics.

In 2017 Doug joined Baker McVeigh in Summerveld, during his year in South Africa Doug worked with both sports and race horses. He worked closely with John McVeigh and was instrumental in helping to set up our Gauteng based ventures. Doug was very popular amongst the local horse fraternity.

Doug has now joined our team at Baker McVeigh Abbott in Yorkshire.

In his spare time he enjoys backing and breaking in young horses, scuba diving, rugby, fishing and rock climbing.
