Dr Garth Nieuwenhuis (South African)
Garth qualified from the Onderstepoort faculty of Veterinary Science in 2012. He was an equine veterinary locum in Summerveld after which he went on to do an internship at the Donnington Grove Equine Clinic in the UK.
At the beginning of 2015 Garth returned to South Africa and joined the Baker McVeigh Cape Town team.
Garth has completed his certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice from the University of Liverpool covering his interests in surgery, diagnostic imaging and lameness. His work on annular ligaments and standing pastern fracture repair have been presented at various equine congresses around the world.
Outside of work, Garth is a very keen fisherman and is currently part of the Western Province and Protea fly fishing team.
