Dr Philippe Hamerlinck (Belgian)
Philippe studied at the University of Ghent (Belgium), while completing different externships in Belgium and abroad (including Baker McVeigh in Cape Town and Chantilly). Due to his keen interest in podiatry, during his studies he also acquired his certificate as a qualified farrier.
After graduating, Philippe completed a one-year rotating internship at Equitom, one of the biggest and busiest equine hospitals in Belgium, focusing on surgery, orthopaedics, internal medicine and diagnostic imaging. After this internship, he started working in a busy practice, dealing with horses competing at all levels in different disciplines, mostly dealing with lameness and poor performance. Furthermore Philippe was responsible for anaesthesia during surgeries and MRI investigations at Equisound, which allowed him to have a first-hand look during these procedures and a great follow-up of cases.
His interests lie in lameness, poor performance and diagnostic imaging. While currently completing the ISELP (The International Society of Equine Locomotor Pathology) courses, he tries to expand his knowledge day by day to provide the best care for any horse.
Philippe joined our Junior Associate Programme in September 2019.
Next to veterinary medicine, Philippe likes surfing, spending time with his girlfriend and friends and music.
