CAREERS / Student Travel Bursaries

Gain hands-on experience at any of our nine equine practices across four countries.

 

Baker McVeigh International's travel bursaries help veterinary students from around the world gain practical experience. Recipients learn from our veterinarians and from leaders in the equine industry.

Each year we award between six and eight bursaries: two of £1,000 and the rest of £500. Each bursary is valid for 12 months and can be used to visit any Baker McVeigh practice:

  • South Africa: Summerveld, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Midlands

  • United Kingdom: Newmarket, Lambourn and Yorkshire

  • France: Chantilly

  • Bahrain: Riffa

Are you a student who would love to travel and learn abroad? Then this is for you.

Who can apply?
The bursaries are open to veterinary students in the final two years of their degree who have a strong interest in equine practice. Time already spent at a Baker McVeigh practice will count in your favour, but it isn't essential.

A pathway into your career
Several of our bursary recipients have gone on to win places on our Junior Associate Programme. For many students, a bursary visit is a first step towards a career with us.

Accommodation
The bursary is a contribution towards your travel costs. Accommodation is not included. Where we can, our practice teams will try to help you find somewhere to stay.
